"ACCnet21 - a little about us"
At ACCnet21 we are proud of our history that started from humble beginnings in 1990 in Murwillumbah, on the Far North Coast of NSW.
We were known back then as Far North Coast Accommodation Network, where we supported six clients to live individually.
Our founder Debbie Stewart saw the opportunity to provide these clients with a new support system that better suited their needs, and the potential for providing a person centred approach.
Our name "ACCnet21" reflects our approach to building Accessible Collaborative Communities (ACC) networks (net) for the Twenty First Century (21)".
As we have grown we have maintained our boutique style support model across a diverse geographical area and are committed to ensuring people with a disability have greater independence to achieve their goals. By providing our clients and their families exactly the sort of services they would like or need we have achieved great results.
We support your independence by offering experienced, knowledgeable advice which results in finding the best options available for you.
10 yrs.’ ago I was living in an ACCnet21 group home in Moree and had always wanted to move to the coast. In 2005 I had the opportunity to begin the Life Moves Independent Living Skills program which I went on to complete. I moved in to my own place in Tweed Heads as a result of what I had learned.
If it weren’t for ACCnet21 I would not be where I am today, living a successful independent life of my own. And so the credit goes to you ACCnet21 for always being there for me throughout those 10 years. I have learnt so much and achieved some really great things. I feel really proud of how well I manage my own life now thanks to all the help and support I have had from you. I feel really grateful for everything you have done for me. Thank you.
ACCnet21 has supported us for many years. Some staff helped us arrange our wedding which was held at Club Banora. They also helped us arrange a trip to China which we enjoyed. A staff member supported us to be a part of a bigger group and we walked on the Great Wall of China and enjoyed eating Peking Duck at the hotel. Support staff help us with different problems and issues which make us feel good when they are sorted out. We appreciate this very much.
